Sanctuary: A History of Queer Club Spaces in Newark (October 2014)

Sanctuary is a collaboration between the Queer Newark Oral History Project of Rutgers University-Newark, Yendor Productions, and the LGBT community of Newark to explore, document, and exhibit the city’s club scene. It was a scene that created safe spaces and even, at its best, an almost spiritual sanctuary for the LGBTQI community. The collaboration will include a month-long community art installation, with collateral activities, which commemorates this rich history, during October 2014. All events are FREE, unless otherwise noted, and open to all.
