paulA neves, a cross-disciplinary artist, is the author of PASSAIC: Poems (Get Fresh Books 2025) and the chapbook capricornucopia: the dream of the goats (Finishing Line Press 2018). Additional work is in the anthology Witness as Resistance (Human Error Publishing 2026) and in various journals such as The Coop, Pilgrimage Magazine, Queen Mob’s Teahouse and The Acentos Review. paulA is the co-founder of Parkway North Productions, which makes documentaries about artists, intersectional communities, and everyday activists, including The Myth of the One: Portraits in Polyamory and The Remedy. Her visual and video art has been exhibited at The Paul Robeson Galleries in Newark, The Montclair Museum of Art, The Newark Museum of Art, the Index Art Center and the West Orange Arts Council, among others. Accolades include grants and fellowships from the NJ State Council on the Arts, the City of Newark, the New York Foundation for the Arts Immigrant Artist Program, CantoMundo, and the Disquiet Literary Program. paulA was also a winner of a NJ Poets Prize from the Journal of New Jersey Poets. paulA began her career as assistant editor and contributing writer for Network Magazine for the 10% Plus, a 1990s LGBTQ print publication based in NJ that reached a national and international audience before it folded. paulA contributed a range of work to Network, from serialized fictional pieces about the adventures of a young bi-cultural queer navigating adulthood, to feature articles on queer politics, cultural figures, and queer subcultures. paulA grew up among Portuguese, Latine, and other immigrant communities in and around the Ironbound section of Newark, NJ, experiences which also inform much of her creative work. paulA teaches primarily at Rutgers University, Newark.
